All motor vehicles in Ontario must display a valid Licence Plate Sticker. Vehicle stickers can be renewed online or in person for one year or two-year terms, up to six months in advance of expiry. You can renew up to three vehicle licence plates at the same time, as long as they are covered under the same insurance company.

If you renew online, your new licence plate validation sticker will be mailed within approximately five business days. Temporary plate stickers need to be renewed in person. If you have moved recently you will need to change your address before you order a new Licence Plate Sticker online.

Before You Start

To renew your Licence Plate Sticker you will need:

• Your Licence Plate number
• A valid credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express)
• A printer to print your transaction receipt
• Depending on the information on file, you may also need to provide:
  • Your vehicle inspection certificate number
  • Your Drive Clean six-character security code
  • Your insurance company name
  • Your insurance policy number
  • Your odometer reading

Outstanding fees, such as parking tickets, will be added to your online transaction total. Other tolls, fees or fines must be paid before you can renew
