Canada Day Picnic a Success

Toronto – Tuesday July 1, 2008 – On Tuesday July 1 Kathleen Wynne and John Godfrey hosted their 5th annual Don Valley West Canada Picnic, at Valley Park Middle School. Hundreds of residents attended this year’s event and were served food and beverages as they danced to the rhythms of traditional South Asian drums. The school field was dotted with activities for adults and children alike.  Kids got to jump in and out of fire trucks and police cruisers, enjoy face painting, a bouncy castle and thanks to Frontier College, a reading tent.

“We were fortunate to have such a beautiful day today.” said Kathleen Wynne. “There are many newcomers in the community around this school. What a great way to bring people together from all walks of life to celebrate our country’s birthday!”

“I cannot imagine a more appropriate way to sign off as MP,” said John Godfrey. “This event will certainly be one of the things I miss most about representing Don Valley West.”

John Godrey's official last day was July 1st. Kathleen and the community expressed their gratitude for his years of service to the community.
