Premier Kathleen Wynne was in Simcoe today as part of the government's ongoing investments in infrastructure across Ontario.
Joined by Minister of Rural Affairs, Jeff Leal, the Premier announced that the new Small, Rural and Northern Municipal Infrastructure Fund is now accepting applications. The program, part of the 2013 Budget, will help address critical infrastructure needs for these communities, including roads, bridges, water and wastewater projects, and will support local jobs.
Twenty-one communities were approved based on their application to the Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative earlier this year.
The Premier and the Honourable Dave Levac, MPP for Brant, also attended a jobs roundtable at Laurier Brantford today, where they called on local business and community leaders to work with the government to help grow the economy and create jobs, especially for young people.
Improving highways, roads and bridges and working with local businesses is part of the Ontario government's economic plan to invest in people, invest in infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate.
